Wow, what a fabulous event on September 12, 2025. We came up well short of our fundraising goal of $500,000 but exceeded expectations in delivering a remarkable experience for guests in a five-star atmosphere. The pregame networking hour — mixing and mingling while feasting on scrumptious hors d’oeuvres — kicked things off. The game-time program followed, consisting of inspirational speakers and a delicious four-course meal fit for royalty. In overtime, delectable desserts were presented to guests as they exited Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse. Those who’ve attended multiple LFYO fundraisers in the past collectively shared at this year’s event, “This is the best one by far!” Here’s why.

LFYO Fundraising Luncheon Staff and Volunteers
Kudos to my wife Monya and her exquisite touch as The Queen of Decorum, which our fundraising crowds recognize. Not over the top but just right in how each sponsorship table was colorfully arranged as well as what items were included in the 14 auction packages. Check-in was flawless for the 160+ attendees; our support staff did a great job in making every guest feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued. Thank you Melanie Ayers, Hannah Gleason, Adam Roslovic, Ben James, Nyah Funderburke, and Jamil Cassimy for your tireless efforts as LFYO volunteers for the day! A special shout-out to Hyde Park management and staff for their noteworthy attention to detail from start to finish. Outstanding job.
Yolanda Harris, WBNS 10TV news anchor, was our MC. Her professionalism and thoroughness in keeping the program lineup on schedule were superb. Coach Jim Tressel, former OSU football coaching legend, spoke first. His words of wisdom on the power of philanthropy captivated the audience. But what really stood out was the time Coach Tressel spent interacting with guests during the networking hour. Debbie Zwahlen, an elementary school counselor, discussed her school’s partnership with our nonprofit organization. Her heartwarming reflections produced a few tear-jerker moments. Chef Jim Warner praised LFYO’s commitment to nutritional excellence in sparing no expense while caring for high-need populations. Chef Warner has provided over 25 cooking demos through the years on behalf of LFYO. I closed out the program with our keys to success as an empowerment crusader (with three of them being outlined in the 2025 Year in Review).
