Funderburke Institute of Financial Empowerment

Funderburke Institute of Financial Empowerment

The Funderburke Institute of Financial Empowerment is a think tank of ideas and best practices to bridge the growing wealth gap in America. Lawrence and Monya develop cutting-edge materials and life-transforming apps in a variety of content areas that encompass holistic financial planning, including life planning and goal setting, cash flow management, credit and debt management, entrepreneurship, investing and retirement planning, risk management, tax planning, incapacity and end-of-life planning, and philanthropy.

The acronym for The Funderburke Institute of Financial Empowerment caught Lawrence off guard. He stumbled upon a pleasant surprise after researching the word, fife. Fife was a musical instrument used in medieval times to prepare soldiers (and citizenry) for battle or to celebrate a special occasion. What’s fascinating is that the fife was one of only a handful of musical instruments in which all three social classes – the peasants (or entrenched poor), the working (or middle) class, and aristocrats (or the wealthy) – used in their folk music ensemble. Lawrence’s aha moment had arrived.

Danny Levitt, a wealth management advisor and key contributor of Lawrence’s groundbreaking findings on social class dynamics, said, “The rule book for wealth creation is the same for all of us, except most people refuse to read it.” Why? Most Americans believe the steepness of their empowerment curve is too labor intensive to climb given their current level of fiscal fitness. The Funderburke’s pledge to do their part to get the poor and middle class in better financial shape, and assist mega-wealthy families in grooming children and grandchildren for the responsibilities of legacy continuity.

“Two of my daughters participated in the Mr. Fundy’s Financial Life Skills Camp a couple of years ago. The weeklong experience had a profound impact in every area of their life! Every child, and even adults for that matter, should be required to receive ongoing instruction in personal finance. The Mr. Fundy’s Financial Life Skills Playbook, I firmly believe, will play a huge part in closing the wealth gap that currently exists in our nation. No one is more qualified than Lawrence Funderburke to solve the complicated and controversial, wealth divide in America.”
